This is one of the most heavily decorated parties of the year. Tables are covered with old style table covers of a variety of colors and patterns. Centerpieces include teapots of all sorts, teacups, large and small, brightly colored vases containing whirly gigs, plastic flamingos, bright colored birds on a stick, over sized plastic flowers, etc. Small soft creatures are placed inside teapots with their heads sticking out. Walls and columns are decorated with handmade characters from Alice in Wonderland: the Queen of Hearts, the white rabbit, the playing cards’s soldiers, the Cheshire Cat, etc. If you have an imitation indoor tree anywhere, bring it in and place the cat in the tree. The master of ceremonies is great dressed as the Mad Hatter. One could get a wonderful men’s suit and dress shirt at the second hand store for cheap along with a tie. Also, you can make a large top hat out of a straw farm hat with pieces of tag board. Another staff member can dress as the white rabbit using a white sweat suit, white gloves and white socks over shoes. They can also wear a pair of rabbit ears headband, paint on some whiskers and carry a large tag board watch. These two characters will make for some fun photo opportunities.
Serve small tea sandwiches, desserts and tea of course!
