This is an activity for anyone who is capable of doing things on their own, in their room.  Storage bins are loaded with in-room activities the resident can use when they are bored, when there are no scheduled group activities, in the evenings, etc.  Items include a wide selection of magazines (cooking magazines, Birds & Blooms, Country, and People have been the most popular), also short stories copied into a large print format and given construction paper covers, one story per cover, are very popular (animal stories, farm life stories, general interest stories of 15 to 25 pages), farmer’s almanac, bathroom readers, etc. Another bin might contain 50 piece puzzles, word search books, dot-to-dot books, coloring sheets with markers, decks of cards, a shut the box game, other games that can be played by one person.  Any resident can choose items and keep them in their room until the cart goes out again at which time they can get new materials.
