Hoy is a game that can be purchased but you can make your own quite easily.  It is simply a game of Bingo that utilizes playing cards instead of numbers.  It is a large group game alternative that players really enjoy.

Each Hoy card consists of the representations of nine playing cards in random order.  The facilitator flips a card from a whist deck and calls out the value; “Three of spades.”  Any player having the three of spades on their Hoy card places a marker on the space.  When all nine spaces have a marker, the player calls “Hoy!”

Hoy cards can be easily made by placing nine playing cards on a standard piece of copy paper.  Hold each card in place with a small piece of rolled scotch tape.  Place the paper on a copier and use the full-color spectrum to produce the copy.  Change the playing cards used and copy again.  Continue until you have enough Hoy cards for a group game.  If you have access to a laminator, laminate the cards for serviceability and cleanliness.  If you do not have access to a laminator, clear contact will do the trick.
