This activity is appropriate for the lower functioning population who may still enjoy a coloring activity. The pictures are wide line drawings of objects or activities that would be familiar to the older generation. Spaces are large and easy to fill with color and each picture has a caption relating to the scene.
Many individuals who do not easily share conversations are still able to read. The picture itself, along with the act of coloring it, coupled with the caption open a window to memories that a listening therapist can use to elicit a verbal exchange regarding the picture and its meaning. Choose pictures that relate to the individual’s past life, occupation, or interest and remain present, ready to share with them.
