This is a game for individuals who are cognitively active but require more time and/or cues to aide in the answer retrieval process.
Let the participants know that you are going to read from a list of items. They are to determine to what category the items belong. Participants are encouraged to guess and provide an answer as soon as possible so hesitate briefly between item labels, providing additional time for that retrieval process to work. Once the category has been named, ask the participants to name other items that would belong to the same category. Also encourage conversation between participants. Ask questions concerning the category of items being presented before moving on to the second set.
If you find the group is having difficulty formulating an answer, use a dry erase board to print the words as you say them. The more senses stimulated, the greater the opportunity to retrieve that answer.
Below, each icon is a clickable button that will open a list of words in a new tab. You can print these words out and use them to play, or you can use a tablet, or laptop, and just open the link and play that way.
