Tables are covered with black and orange table covers and mini pumpkins and burlap as centerpieces. Orange and black paper plates and napkins are used.
For the entertainment portion of the party, the staff are all encouraged to dress in their best Halloween costumes to parade around the room for all residents to enjoy. Eerie music is played in the background. Prior to the party, staff help residents dress in costumes. Some simply enjoy wearing funky hats that have been accumulated over the years; cowboy hats, witch hats, pirate hats, etc.
For the food portion of the party, serve cheese spread on bread cut in the shape of a pumpkin, with sliced olives arranged on top to look like a jack-o-lantern. Orange punch is served in a black plastic cauldron. For a small mini game, a jar full of candy corn is passed around for others to guess how many candies are in the jar. Who ever is correct (or the closest) wins the candy.
