This game consists of a deck of large picture cards and a second deck of word cards.
Using the set of pictures provided, make 4 sets (total) for the game. Laminating them will make them durable and help keep them clean. When completed, you will have a deck of 48 cards.
Next make a copy of the word card pages, laminate them, and cut them into individual word cards. You now have a second deck consisting of 13 words.
To begin the game, provide one set of picture cards to each player. If you have 4 players they could get 5 pictures each. (You will vary the number depending on the ability of your participants). Each set should be, in some way, different from each other set. Review the pictures one at a time, asking participants to name the item before playing the game.
As a facilitator, you will draw one word card, hold it up for all to see, and allow them time to read it themselves. If there is no response, read the word aloud. Players having the associated item’s picture will place it in a designated box or basket. The object of the game is to be the first to eliminate all your picture cards.
Before ending, talk about picnics of the past.
