The Grain Game
The object of the Grain Game is to acquire an elevator and then be the first to fill it with one of each of the five crops. The game is intended for two.
Dealer doles out six cards to each player then places the deck face down in the center of the table.
Players look at their cards. The first player draws a card and plays a card; if that player has an elevator, he or she may place the elevator card on the table, face up. If not, then he must discard.
Play goes to the next player who responds the same.
Once an elevator card has been placed on the table, grains may be added, again, only one card may be played at a time. Each player must always have six cards. If a grain card is played in the elevator, then no discard is required.
There are cards in the deck that allow the player to thwart the actions of their opponent. A “CLOSED” card can be played at any time, closing the opponent’s elevator and making it impossible to add grains until an “OPEN” card is played.
A “TAKE ONE CROP” card can be played at any time. The player taking the crop may add it to their own elevator, if needed, or if their elevator is closed, discard the crop card.
Should the draw pile be expended, reshuffle adding all the special cards from each player’s stack of elevator cards, leaving only the top one if it is pertinent. Continue play.
