Clothing styles, usage, and labels continue to evolve. Today’s clothing items are quite dissimilar to those worn by great grandparents or even grandparents. Sometimes entire items of clothing disappear from use and sometimes it is only the name that has disappeared.
This game involves a list of once-common clothing items. The facilitator reads the name of one item and asks participants to explain what it is. It is helpful to utilize a dry erase board so the facilitator can print the name of the item as it is easier for participants to understand what’s being presented if they can both hear the word and see it. Once the item is correctly named, a conversation may ensue between the participants about the items use; Did you ever wear this item?”, “Are you familiar with this item?”, “Did anyone in your family wear this item?” “Has this item ever hung in your closet?”.
